Parents 4 Pot is an organization that aims to help those affected by all aspects of cannabis prohibition. They support medical refugee families, activist families and families of those incarcerated for cannabis.
Fifth Annual Holiday Drive
This is their fifth year hosting their annual Parents 4 Pot Holiday Drive which benefits the families of prisoners incarcerated for cannabis. In addition, the annual drive also benefits the families of cannabis activists who are also patients and activists in need.
The aim of the drive is to give the children with absent parents or patients who are unable to work to give their children the kind of holiday cheer they’d otherwise love to provide.
These Families Need Help
One of these families is the Thomas family, whose father was using cannabis to medicate his stage 4 renal disease but is now being sent to prison, thus resulting in his wife and two children to lose their house.
Another is Jessica Anderson, who has been sick since her son Noah's birth. While living in Tennessee, Jessica was at risk of losing her bladder and also ran the risk of opiates shutting down her lung function. Her doctors recommended medical marijuana, so she flew to Colorado to try it. After being there for a year, she is completely off of opiates and feeling much better. Jessica filed to move to Colorado with her son, but the courts in Tennessee said she wasn't allowed to move Noah. Between managing her conditioning traveling to see her son, she lives on disability and continues dealing with great hardship.
