Seattle: Bad Cop Pleads Guilty to Transporting Marijuana to Baltimore

November 28, 2017

Alex Chapackdee, a 16-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department has pled guilty to money laundering and transporting marijuana to the East Coast.

Arrested in May in the Western District of Washington State, the former Seattle police officer admitted to conspiring with three other individuals to transport and distribute hundreds of pounds of marijuana to the Baltimore area – and subsequently laundering the proceeds.

In custody since his arrest, on Monday the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District spelled out the terms of Chapackdee’s plea agreement in a press release.

“Under the terms of the plea agreement, both sides will recommend the mandatory minimum five-year sentence when CHAPACKDEE is sentenced on March 1, 2018.”

Not bound by the recommended agreement, U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Zilly could theoretically still throw the proverbial book at Chapackdee by sentencing him to the maximum term of 40 years in prison.

Investigated by the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force, the FBI’s Public Corruption Squad, the DEA, and the Seattle Police Department, the rogue cop is credited with making multiple cross-country trips to the Baltimore area in the fall of 2016.

Armed with his service revolver and SPD badge, Chapackdee and his co-conspirators are credited with transporting hundreds of pounds of hidden marijuana in an RV between September and November of 2016.

A Super Trooper no more, Chapackdee might find his time in a federal facility leads to some rather interesting conversations with his fellow inmates regarding America’s war on drugs.

About Monterey Bud: Born in Long Beach, raised on the central coast: I surf, dab, burn, and blog – though not necessarily in that order. I'm a husband, a father and a lifelong consumer of connoisseur grade weed. I don't drink alcohol or consume any other "drugs." I consider myself to be living proof that weed is not a gateway drug. If it were, I'd be in some serious trouble. Instead, as a 50-year-old ex-realtor that has been smoking weed for nearly 80% of my life (just did the math) ... I can only say, marijuana is safer than prescription pills or alcohol could ever hope to be for calming what stirs the savage beast.
