Delivery-Only Dispensary in Oakland is Going the Extra Mile for Patients

November 10, 2017

Oakland, CA, November 9, 2017 --/ D.M.O. Newswire/-- January 1, 2018 marks the day that recreational marijuana will officially become legal in California. As districts contemplate how dispensaries will be affected, Proper Rx, a trailblazer in the industry, is devoted to educating its community about cannabis’ medicinal benefits. Established in 2010, Proper Rx is a delivery-only medical marijuana dispensary located in California’s East Bay, aimed at supporting those who are terminally ill and unable to leave the house, have limited mobility or do not own a car. Helmed by founder Elliott Marshall and Vice President Erika McCartney to provide door-to-door delivery, Proper Rx focuses on relieving those in pain who are marginalized by their unequal access to their medication.

Hailing from the Bahamas, Mr. Marshall attributed cancer as a death sentence that had claimed a long and disconcerting list of his loved ones. After relocating to the United States, he became acquainted with patients who had found relief and apparent healing through the use of cannabis. While there was limited documentation from doctors confirming claims, Mr. Marshall explored opportunities to help make a difference. Now after years of hard work, Proper Rx is working with patients who suffer from all types of cancer, PTSD, migraines, anxiety, seizures and more.

Mr. Marshall has built cherished relationships among their hundreds of thousands of loyal followers. Home consultations are highly-valued, particularly because of the personalized service, high quality and organic/pesticide-free products they provide at ProperRx. “We’re here in health care,” remarks Mr. Marshall, “New patients are walked down the aisle and handled with extreme care.” After a thorough education from one of their highly trained staff, new patients are directed to the Proper RX HIPPA compliant website where they can order their personalized recommendations.

This attention to care has led to a partnership with Grammy-winning reggae group Morgan Heritage. “We have signed on as a shareholder in an effort to take an amazing local business from Oakland, CA, across the state and subsequently across the country in states where medical marijuana is legal,” vocalist and percussionist Mojo Morgan said. “Last year I was sent by the Group to spend 2 weeks with the Proper Rx owner Elliott Marshall and his staff to truly understand what they do. I quickly realized that the services they were rendering far exceeded the recreational use of marijuana.” Another partnership has formed with the company I’m Sorry We’re Working, who manages Billboard charting rapper, Young M.A, among other acts.

The legalization of recreational marijuana in January, will permit anyone over 21 years of age in the state who is not a medical card-holder to buy an ounce of cannabis and incur taxes at a rate of at least 15%. Right now, only medical marijuana card-holders may buy cannabis in any shape or form. With the new laws, existing medical card-holders will not incur the tax. Critics have said that recreational marijuana could be lower quality than medical, however, Proper Rx will remain steadfastly devoted to its core mission to promote quality of life through the highest possible marijuana available anywhere.
