Canopy Growth Corporation (TSX: WEED) (OTC:TWMJF) just announced that the company has appointed the founder of Stampede Management, Ted Chung, as a "Strategic Advisor for Content Strategy" to bolster and capitalize upon brand opportunities for Tweed and other Canopy Growth cannabis brands as the legal Canadian recreational market is getting closer.
In terms of cannabis industry experience, Ted has already established himself as a thought leader and visionary in the marijuana media media space as a founder of MERRY JANE and an Executive Producer on the EMMY-Nominated television series Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party. In addition, Ted is also the longtime manager of rapper Snoop Dogg.
"Canopy Growth and Tweed are progressive leaders across the board for our industry. I look forward to creating a content strategy that is thoughtful of where cannabis business is today and valuable to how cannabis culture is adopted by the mainstream within a year," commented Ted Chung.
This is not the first time that Snoop's or Ted's names have come up alongside Canopy Growth's. Since it was announced in October of 2016, Snoop Dogg's medical marijuana brand, called Leafs by Snoop, has been available in Canada exclusively through Tweed Main Street.
Ted's joining builds upon the recent hiring of Dave Bigioni as the Chief Marketing Officer for all Canopy Growth brands. Mr. Bigioni joined the company in August from an executive role at Molson Coors Brewing Company where he spent nine years in sales and marketing functions building one of Canada's iconic beer brands.
As it was just announced that Corona marketer Constellation Brands took a 9.9% stake in Canopy Growth, we'll be watching to see the ways that Dave's experience drives new collaborations between the two companies.
