Marijuana dispensaries in the State of Oregon are now able to offer customers a secure, legitimate, and transparent alternative to the existing cash-only methods for payment.
CanPay is changing the game for dispensaries at a time that so many of them desperately need payment solutions other than cash. Applicable to both in-store as well as delivery purchases, this first-of-its-kind debit payment system is already being put to work in Washington, Colorado, Maine and Florida.
CanPay will initially be available at seven different marijuana dispensaries across Oregon in Portland, Oregon City, and Eugene. "Oregon is another pioneer in the wave of legalization, which makes it a terrific market for us to introduce a more secure and convenient way to pay for cannabis," said Dustin Eide, CEO of CanPay.
Eide went on to mention that "in 2016, Oregon dispensaries sold more than $241 million worth of cannabis products. When operating in a cash-only model, the risk to consumers, store employees, and owners increases exponentially. Introducing CanPay is a step to reduce risk and normalize the payment experience in the cannabis industry so it's the same as shopping everywhere else."
Now in over 40 marijuana dispensaries in a handful of states, we have no doubt that CanPay will be adopted by many more as cash handling and logistics becomes costly and risky.
