The Marijuana Policy Project, or MPP, is getting its bank account shut down, CNN reports. The organization has been around since 1995 fighting the prohibition of marijuana. MPP operates with a self-described mission "to change federal law to allow states to determine their own marijuana policies without federal interference, as well as to regulate marijuana like alcohol in all 50 states, D.C., and the five territories."

Currently, the organization banks with PNC Bank (NYSE:PNC). "They have notified us that they intend to close it," Mason Tvert, Director of Communications for MPP, told CNN.
This is an unfortunate development for MPP, and the marijuana legalization movement.
