"It is definitely important that Health Canada is taking steps to enhance the effective production of cannabis for medical purposes to ensure all Canadians who need it will have access to safe, high-quality and legal medical cannabis," said Colette Rivet, Executive Director of Cannabis Canada. "In particular, streamlining the review and approval of applications to modify or expand a production facility for licensed producers with a record of good compliance with the ACMPR and permitting licensed producers to manage production on the basis of their vault capacity makes a lot of sense."
Cannabis Canada and its members work in collaboration with Health Canada and other experts to protect the health of Canadians and ensure a safe and well-regulated cannabis system in Canada. Therefore, Cannabis Canada also supports that all licensed producers and applicants will need to continue to meet all of the requirements under the ACMPR, including measures that help to ensure Canadians will continue to have access to quality-controlled cannabis for medical purposes and acknowledging their record of good compliance.
