Based on the names of some companies, you wouldn't know they had anything to do with the cannabis industry. Not all cannabis-related companies have to follow in the footsteps of Cannabis Sativa, Inc. (OTC:CBDS), Cannabis Science, Inc. (OTC:CBIS), 420 Property Management, Inc. (OTC:FTPM) and more, but some names are just plain misleading!
#1 - South American Gold Corp. (OTC:SAGD)
South American Gold Corp. takes the #1 slot when it comes to confusion. Based on the name, you'd think that the company has gold mining operations in South America. You'd be wrong!
The company's description on the OTC Markets' website says that "South American Gold Corp is focused on becoming the premiere provider of value added products and services for the cultivation and processing of cannabis for the South American medical and recreational markets with an initial focus on the Uruguayan market."
It's not just the South American medical and recreational marijuana markets South American Gold is after, it's Oregon's and Arkansas' as well, according to an early-April press release.
#2 - Players Network, Inc. (OTC:PNTV)
Players Network sounds like a lot of things, but a diversified cannabis company isn't one of them. PNTV owns approximately 86% of Green Leaf Farms Holdings, LLC which has Nevada state-issued cultivation and production licenses.
Players Network does have one network though! WeedTV.com is a wholly owned subsidiary which is "developing the ultimate resource for the marijuana lifestyle," according to the company's description on the OTC Markets website.
The name is not what's important, it's what they do. For more marijuana stocks, check out our marijuana stock database. There's cannabis-related companies with wild names all over the globe!
