Have you ever smoked a joint before going to bed? Maybe the strain you smoked was called Blue Dream? Regardless, I'm sure you have at one point or another wondered what cannabis does to your dreams. A lot of people use cannabis to help with insomnia and other related sleep disorders, but do they really know what marijuana does to their R.E.M. sleep?
For those who don't know about R.E.M. sleep...it stands for rapid eye movement sleep. According to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, "during REM sleep, your brain and body are energized and dreaming occurs. REM is thought to be involved in the process of storing memories, learning, and balancing your mood, although the exact mechanisms are not well understood."
