For those of you who missed it, yesterday Maine's recreational marijuana legalization went into effect. Marijuana users in other weed-legal states like Washington and Oregon might be saying so what? Above, you'll find a map detailing the maximum weight (in ounces) of marijuana that a recreational user can legally possess by state.
Well, recreational marijuana users in Maine can legally possess 2.5 times the stash of a recreational marijuana user in one of the other legal states. In fact, Maine is the only state with a recreational maximum possession limit of over 1 ounce.
Maybe Maine is called 'Vacationland' for a reason other than the quaint beach towns and fresh-caught lobster.
Recreational marijuana states as of the November election currently include California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Colorado, Nevada, Maine and Massachusetts in no particular order. Not included in the infographic's map are the states where marijuana possession is decriminalized.
States where marijuana is decriminalized include Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, Illinois and more. Be sure to check back tomorrow to learn more about the states that have decriminalized small marijuana offenses.
