An interesting story has come across our radar regarding two teens with marijuana possession and distribution charges out of Florida, originally reported by Time and the Miami Herald.

Two 19 year old boys from Florida named Roberto Garcia and Alexis Rodriguez were pulled over in possession of a lot of marijuana.
By a lot of marijuana, we mean "four half-gallon jars full of marijuana."
Both "face charges of possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, deliver and distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to commit those crimes."
However, the one teen, "just always buys his personal stash in bulk because he saves money that way" as he told the Florida Highway Patrol Officer.
This is a sticky subject. There is a big chance that these Florida teens actually do pick up in bulk just to save money. Of course, there is also the law's side of this which is that these guys had the intent to distribute marijuana etc.
But...People Buy Toilet Paper In Bulk:
To play devils advocate to the law, it is the same idea as mom and dad going to Costco to buy 64 rolls of toilet paper all at once to get a cheaper price per roll. Sure, it seems odd that any person or household needs 64 rolls of toilet paper on hand at any one time. It looks even weirder if one is pulled over with 64 rolls of toilet paper in their passenger seat.
In conclusion, these teens may have just been buying in bulk to get a cheaper rate per gram. We will see how things unfold in court. This sort of case looks very bad in the media when there are two teens pulled over with half-gallon jars full of marijuana in their possession, but maybe their actions and intentions were taken out of context.
